One thing we all have to get use to out here is the daily chopping of wood for the fire. Its a back braking ordeal which absolutly kills my back. However, Im told that someone has to do it and today was me.

Askeskar has been part of the Mattsson family since the 1800's when it was given as a wedding gift to a local house maid and her husband. Since that date Askeskar Island has become a member of one of Vasterviks most treasured islands. Today Askeskar is protected by Kalmar Lansratt as a Nature Reserve.
